The GenoBank Mainz eG is a regionally active credit union .

history

The bank was founded on February 8, 1896 as a savings and loan fund, registered cooperative with limited liability in August Heim ("Zur Heimburg") in Hauptstrasse 117 in Mombach . The founding members were 16 people from all walks of life.

On April 25, 1921, the cooperative was converted into one with limited liability . As a result, the name was changed to Mombacher Sparkasse eGmbH on April 30, 1922 . As early as 1923, women who were members could participate in the general assembly with voting rights . On March 20, 1941, the institute was given the name "Genossenschaftsbank" (based on the Reich Law for Acquisition and Economic Cooperatives). On November 28, 1990, the bank was renamed "Genobank Mainz eG" for pragmatic reasons.
