Introductory story
The first issue appeared at the end of September 2011, the second a month later. The reason for the new establishment was the opening of the International Year of Cooperatives 2012, which the General Assembly of the United Nations decided on December 18, 2009 in its resolution A / RES / 64/136. According to the editorial of the first issue, the GAZ should contribute to the public relations work required by the world organization. The editors also refer to Article 28 of the Constitution of North Rhine-Westphalia, which calls for support for cooperative self-help. Founding editors are Wolfgang Baecker and Klaus Kalefeld. According to her, the GAZ should appear eight times a year.
profile
The GAZ, which is printed in Nordic format , contains messages, reports and comments on the areas of business, culture, sport and miscellaneous. Around half of the contributions are related to the topics of self-help, civic engagement or development cooperation. The remaining texts deal with current events of general interest. Former EU Commissioner Günter Verheugen was the guest columnist for the first edition . In addition to the federal edition, there are also two regional editions with local information from the northern Ruhr area and western Münsterland.
