Genus apotelesmaticum

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Genus apotelesmaticum is a term that the old Protestant dogmatics used in Christology ( apotelesma = completion ). In his human nature, Jesus Christ participates in the work of redemption which he accomplishes by virtue of his divine nature, and he is also exposed in his divine nature to the suffering that happens to him in his human nature. It is meant to express that it is not sometimes the divine nature and sometimes the human nature of Christ that acts, but that both natures are always cooperative in the act of Jesus Christ.
