Act

Geoffroy is probably the author of the Chronique metrique de Philippe le Bel or Chronique de rimée Geoffroi de Paris . This work on the history of France from 1300 to 1316 contains 7,918 stanzas and is valuable because the author was an eyewitness to many of the events described. Among other things, he reports on the execution of the Grand Master of the Templar Order Jacques de Molay in 1314 and reproduces the alleged wording of his curse.

Various short historical poems are also attributed to Geoffrey. Between 1314 and 1318 he also wrote several “ dits ” in Latin and French, including “Avisemens pour le roy Loys” , “Du roy Phelippe qui ores regne” , “De alliatis” and “De la creation du pape Jehan” . Most of his writings deal with current political issues and to the French kings Louis X and Philippe V directed.
