The Geographical Society in Hamburg is a registered association which aims to promote geography . It was founded in 1873.

The association was founded in 1873. Ludwig Friederichsen was their first secretary.

Society sees itself as a link between geography at universities on the one hand and geography in practical applications on the other. Lecture series and excursions are organized regularly, she also publishes a series of publications and operates her own library. The current board member is Jürgen Oßenbrügge . The association's work encompasses both international and regional topics. Different areas of geography such as natural geography, agriculture or spatial planning are also covered.
