Geological Survey of Queensland

The Geological Survey of Queensland (abbreviated GSQ) is the highest geoscientific authority in the Australian state of Queensland . Its headquarters are in Brisbane . This geological survey is part of the Department of Employment, Economic Development and Innovation.

The geological service has a geoscientific collection with exhibits and drill samples from the mid-19th century to the present day. More recent projects deal with research in the fields of coal and crude oil , carbon dioxide storage , geothermal energy in the coastal area and seismic investigations in the deep sea area.

The central publication organ of the authority is the Queensland Government Mining Journal (QGMJ) with more than one hundred years.
