history

The publishing house was started in Wittlich in 1906 by Georg Fischer (1881–1962). The foundation of a teachers' college at the beginning of the 20th century was the reason for the foundation of the publishing house. As a result, educational textbooks also formed the basis of publishing activities.

Between 1934 and 1937 the publisher published six volumes (approx. 2000 pages long) on the mystic Bernhard von Clairvaux , which was very brave at the time. Many picture and children's books by Berti Breuer-Weber have been published by Georg Fischer Verlag. Another important writer at the publishing house was Clara Viebig . Her three novels Das Kreuz im Venn , Am Totenmaar and Kinder der Eifel were extremely successful.

In 1956 the publishing house had to cease operations.
