Georg Frisch

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Georg Frisch (mentioned from 1606; † 1620 ) was a cabinet maker and altar builder in Linz .

Georg Frisch is first attested when he married in 1606. In 1617 he concluded a contract for five altars with Georg II Grill, abbot of the Cistercian monastery Wilhering . In 1620 he delivered two coffins for the noble Hans Erenreich Jörger. For this purpose, he created cradles and supports for the funeral ceremony and repaired chairs and tables.

The altar maker and cabinet maker Andreas Frisch was probably his son, because he appears as the owner of a property in Linz that previously belonged to Georg Frisch. Georg Frisch would be the progenitor of a cabinetmaker and sculptor dynasty that can be traced back over at least four generations.
