Georg Ketteler

Georg Ketteler (* in the 16th century; † in the 16th or 17th century) was a Protestant canon in Münster .

Life

Origin and family

Georg Ketteler came from the Westphalian noble family Ketteler , which belonged to the ministerial nobility . Numerous well-known personalities emerged from it. He was the son of Rotger Ketteler zu Middelburg († 1532) and his wife Anna von Bökenförde called von Schüngel . His brother Konrad (Conrad), ⚭ 1554 Bertha von Raesfeld , renewed the Middelburg and was Drost zu Stromberg. His brother Rotger was canon in Münster from 1570 to 1582.

Act

Georg was Canon of Osnabrück when he studied law in Orléans . In 1570 he came into the possession of a cathedral priest from Münster and was emancipated in the same year. In 1577 he joined the youth party in the cathedral chapter , which was close to the evangelical faith. In 1579 Georg renounced his benefice and married the heir, Anna Ledebur . As a result, he came into the possession of the Osnabrück fiefdoms of the Ledebur and their hereditary marshal's office in Herford. The son Johann Ledebur Ketteler, who later became Drost zu Limberg, emerged from the marriage.
