A button cannula is a hollow needle that, in contrast to an injection cannula, does not have a pointed end, but a rounded end with a spherical or olive-shaped widening. The cannula body can be straight or curved. A button cannula facilitates insertion into wound cavities , abscess cavities or natural cavities and prevents damage to the surrounding tissue . In medicine they are mainly used for rinsing.
