Georg Ried (pedagogue)

Georg Ried (* 1900 ; † unknown) was a German teacher and didactic specialist in German teaching . He worked as a teacher in Munich.

Life

He is the author of the German school literature history of the essence and development of German poetry , which was decisive for the post-war period and which first appeared in 1951 and had 22 editions with over 300,000 books by 1972. It was in 1961 by Walther Killy in time attacked because she was weighted by questionable criteria and assessed critical authors derogatory. It was his settlement with the traditional high school lessons in German, which z. B. was lenient with Nazi authors and ignored German exiled authors .

After completing his dissertation in Erlangen in 1923, Georg Ried was an editor of educational literature in the German Committee for Education in the Weimar Republic . In the post-war period he was significantly active in the German Association of Philologists and advocated against reforms that lower performance. Any criticism of the high school tradition was rejected.
