Georg Weber ( October 9, 1842 in Darmstadt , Grand Duchy of Hesse - August 1, 1899 in Lucerne , Switzerland ) was a German theater actor and opera singer ( bass ).

Life

Weber's career was employed as a choreleve at the Darmstadt court theater and contracted in 1860. Grand Duke Ludwig III. became interested in the young man and granted him a three-year scholarship, during which Weber could do more detailed vocal studies. He stayed in Darmstadt until 1875, and on June 1, 1875 he went to the Stadttheater Frankfurt . At first it was only used in acting, but later it found plenty of occupation in the opera. Weber was a pillar of the ensemble not only in operas but also in Wagner's musical dramas. He also appeared frequently as a concert singer. On June 1, 1899, the artist celebrated the anniversary of his 25-year career in Leipzig and his 40-year career on the stage in general. Weber was a member of the Frankfurt Freemason Lodge Socrates for steadfastness .

He died on a vacation trip in Lucerne.
