George Adolf Baer (also Adolf Baer ; * 1903 ; † 1994 ) was a Swiss graphic artist and bookbinder . His work can be assigned to a traditional design.

Life

Baer had studied at the Cuneo Press with Leonard Mounteney in Chicago and later worked there, a. a. for Mosher Press Fine Bindings . He then taught bookbinding at the Kunstgewerbeschule Kassel and from 1927 at the Lixouri trade school (now TEI Ionion Nison ). In 1937 he moved to Zurich, where he opened a bookbindery at Münsterhof 10. This published very exclusive books in numbered small editions of 50 to 500 copies, mostly on behalf of authors or publishers, comparable to the Ernst Engel press . The design of the covers always came from Baer himself.
