George Kruis (born February 22, 1990 in Guildford ) is an English rugby union player . He plays as a second-row striker for the England national team , the British and Irish Lions and the Saracens .

childhood and education

Kruis went to St John's School in Leatherhead, Surrey and started rugby at the Dorking RFC as a seven-year-old, initially as an outside three-quarters. He also played for London's U18 squad. In 2010 he took part in the World Junior Championship with the English national team.

Career

society

Kruis first played in the 2009/10 season in the English Premiership for the Saracens, for which he is still active today. He won the championship title with the team in 2011, 2015, 2016, 2018 and 2019. In 2016, 2017 and 2019 he also won the European Rugby Champions Cup , the highest European club competition.

National team

Kruis made his national team debut against New Zealand in November 2014 . He was nominated for the 2015 World Cup and played as a substitute in two games. He made his first attempt at the Six Nations 2016 against Scotland . England won the Grand Slam at this tournament. Kruis was on the starting line-up for all five games. In 2017 he was nominated for the British and Irish Lions and was used in the first game of the test series against New Zealand. In 2019 he was nominated for his second world championship .
