George L. Barker (2009)

George Lincoln Barker (born August 24, 1951 in Eldorado , Illinois ) is an American politician ( Democratic Party ). Since 2008 he has been a Senator in the Virginia Senate , where he represents the 39th District.

Life

Barker attended Harvard College , where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics and public health . He then continued his studies at Harvard University , graduating with a Master of Science degree in health policy and management.

Barker was now in the healthcare sector, serving the Health Systems Agency of Northern Virginia for more than three decades . He was first elected to the Virginia Senate in 2007. Barker prevailed against the Republican incumbent Jay O'Brien. In 2011 Barker was re-elected.

Barker is married with two children, a son and a daughter. Furthermore, he and his wife were foster parents for 13 children.
