George Nelson (singer)

George Nelson (* 1926 , † 1959 ) was an American Doo Wop - singer , who in the late 1940s and early 1950s as a baritone voice of the Orioles became known.

Nelson was one of the founding members of the Vibranaires in 1947, which later changed its name to The Orioles. He sang in the late 1940s a. a. Hits like It's Too Soon to Know , Tell Me So , Forgive and Forget , What Are You Doing New Year's Eve and (It's Gonna Be a) Lonely Christmas . Nelson was critically injured in a car crash on November 5, 1950, but recovered. In 1953 he left the band and was replaced by Gregory Carrol . Nelson died of asthma in 1959 .
