George Siemens

George Siemens is a Canadian learning theorist . He is considered the founder of connectivism .

Siemens is head of the "Learning Technologies Center" at the University of Manitoba in Canada. He was best known for his article Connectivism: A Learning Theory for the Digital Age and his book Knowing Knowledge , published in 2005 , in which he worked on his theory, connectivism. In 2008 Siemens and Stephen Downes , who played a key role in the theory of connectivism, created the first online course for connectivist learning.
