George St. Clair Joof
George St. Clair Joof (* 1907 , † March 1955 ) was a politician in the West African British colony of Gambia .
Life
St. Clair Joof was the son of civil servant JP Joof , who was a member of the Bathurst Advisory Town Council , a forerunner of the Bathurst Town Council (BTC), in the 1930s and 1940s . He entered the public service in 1924 and from 1928 worked in the legal advisor's office. He later qualified as a barrister .

For the constituency 'New Town', St. Clair Joof was an elected member of the BTC in 1946; he gave up his seat in January 1948 at his own request.
In the elections to the Legislative Council in 1954, St. Clair Joof was a candidate for one of four seats and previously founded the Gambian People's Party (GPP) that same year . The election was unsuccessful for St. Clair Joof, he received 3.4% of the votes cast.
In 1941 he married Lucretia St. Clair Joof . St. Clair Joof died in March 1955 at the age of 47; the GPP then dissolved.
