Georg Ditsch

Georg Ditsch (French: Georges Ditsch ; * April 25, 1829 ; † 1918 ) was a notary and politician in the realm of Alsace-Lorraine .

Life

Georg Ditsch studied law and became a notary in Fénétrange in 1855 . He married Elisa Bricka.

In 1878 he was elected mayor of Finstingen. From 1873 he belonged to the district assembly of the Lorraine district and was elected to the regional committee of the realm of Alsace-Lorraine from 1888 to 1911 . He was chairman of the district assembly from 1911 to 1918. In 1906 he became a co-founder of the " Groupe Lorrain " of the German-speaking Lorraine faction in the state committee and later in the state parliament. His nickname was " the gnarled oak from Finstingen ", Georges Ditsch was a political opponent of the Francophone Lorraine, led by Henri Collin , but was also in the opinion of his opponents always a representative of Lorraine interests.

Honors

The Rue Georges Ditsch in Finstingen is named after him.
