Georgina Masson

Georgina Masson (actually Marion Johnson; * 1912 ; † 1980 ) was a British author and photographer. In her work she devoted herself above all to the history of Italian architecture and horticulture .

Masson worked for the British Ministry of Information and Foreign Office in Rome during World War II . Then they traveled for some 15 years of Italy and published in 1959 Italian Villas and Palaces (German Italian villas and palaces ), 1961 Italian Gardens (German Italian gardens ). In the lavishly designed volumes with numerous large-format black and white photographs in rotogravure printing , she describes the history of numerous buildings and gardens from ancient times to the present.

Georgina Masson was a member of the Royal Society of Literature . In 2003, her photographic work was recognized in an exhibition at the American Academy in Rome .
