Georgios Karatzaferis
Georgios Karatzaferis ( Greek Γιώργος Καρατζαφέρης ; born August 11, 1947 in Athens ) is a Greek politician and chairman of the Greek party Laikos Orthodoxos Synagermos (LAOS).
Biography and political career
Karatzaferis worked as a radio and television journalist from 1969. In 1990 he founded the television station TeleAsty.
From 1993 to 2000 Karatzaferis was a member of the Nea Dimokratia (ND) faction in the Greek Parliament . In 2000 he was expelled from the party. In response, he founded the LAOS party. From 2004 to September 25, 2007 Karatzaferis was a member of the European Parliament . There he was a member of the Independence and Democracy Group . He was also a member of the Greek Parliament until 2012, but his party missed re-entry in the parliamentary elections in May and June 2012 . In December 2015 Karatzaferis was sentenced to one year probation for tax evasion.
