Geostationary ring

The geostationary ring is the volume area in which the geostationary orbit lies.

Anomalies of the gravitational field of the Earth , the gravitational effects of the moon and sun , and the radiation pressure of the solar radiation of the geostationary orbit leads to deviations from a circular orbit at 36,000 km. These deviations can add up to 15 degrees in declination and 75 km in altitude.

It is precisely this area that is increasingly being affected by space debris, on the one hand through intensive use, and on the other hand because the garbage does not fall to earth after a while due to the geostationary orbit, as it does in deeper orbits.
