Background noise

The soundscape is the totality of the noises that form the acoustic framework for a process or action . Originally the term was used for the (artificially created) noises in theater performances , in films and radio plays . Today, Atmo is the common term for recorded sounds.

The expression is also used in everyday life (e.g. a loud whistle concert formed the background noise for the address of the top politician. ).
