The GVB transport and operating company Gera GmbH is the operator of the city's tram and bus network of the Thuringian city of Gera . It followed the insolvent Geraer Verkehrsbetrieb GmbH . Around 15.5 million passengers are carried annually on three tram lines and 14 bus routes. The cost of providing the service in 2016 amounted to 12.9 million euros for the tram service and 7.3 million euros for the city bus service.

On December 1, 2019, lines 22, 24 (from Untermhaus), 27, S27, 28 and 29 were taken over by RVG Regionalverkehr Gera / Land . They are continued as lines 228 and 229.
