Gerald Raunig

Gerald Raunig (* 1963 in Klagenfurt am Wörthersee ) is an Austrian philosopher and art theorist .

Life

Raunig studied philosophy, classical philology and history in Vienna and Klagenfurt and was awarded a Dr. phil. PhD. He completed his habilitation and received the venia docendi for philosophy at the Institute for Philosophy at the University of Klagenfurt . He is Professor of Aesthetics at the Zurich University of the Arts and co-founder of the European Institute for Progressive Cultural Policies (eipcp). His main research interests are political philosophy , epistemology , aesthetics and philosophy of art. Raunig is also a member of the editorial team of transversal texts , a multilingual publication platform, and of the magazine Kamion .

In 1992 he became a board member of the Werkstätten- und Kulturhaus (WUK) Vienna and in 1994 of the IG Kultur Austria . He was a regular author of the Kulturrisse .
