Gerardo Galeote Quecedo

Gerardo Galeote Quecedo (born January 27, 1957 in São Paulo , Brazil ) is a Spanish politician ( PP ). From 1994 to 2009 he was a member of the European Parliament in the EPP-ED Group and since 2004 Chairman of the Committee on Regional Development. He was also a member of the Executive Committee of the European People's Party .

In 2009, the Spanish investigating judge Baltasar Garzón charged him with being involved in the Gürtel case , a corruption scandal within the PP. Galeote was therefore not re-elected by his party for the 2009 European elections , according to him at his own request .
