Gerd Dührkop

Gerhard "Gerd" Dührkop (born January 3, 1942 in Rostock ) is a former German athlete who competed for the GDR. In 1962 he was the first high jumper in the GDR to jump 2.10 m. With a height of 1.89 m, his competition weight was 73 kg.

At the European Championships in 1962 Dührkop took sixth place with 2.06 m. Seven and a half years later, he appeared a second time at international championships. At the European Indoor Championships in Vienna in 1970 he was second behind Valentin Gavrilow from the Soviet Union with 2.17 m .

At the championships of the GDR he won four times: 1961, 1962, 1963 and 1971. In 1970 he was indoor champion of the GDR. Dührkop improved the GDR high jump record three times in 1961 and 1962, most recently to 2.13 m. He set his outdoor best of 2.14 m in 1970.

After his active career, the doctor of medicine worked as a doctor.
