Gerd Schaefer-Rolffs

Gerhard Ernst Heinrich Schaefer-Rolffs (born January 25, 1909 in Thorn , † April 22, 1986 in Bochum ) was a German engineer and association official.

Life

Growing up in Gleiwitz , he studied mechanical engineering at the TH Breslau from the winter semester 1927/28 . In 1928 he became a member of the Corps Silesia . After becoming a qualified engineer in 1933 , he initially stayed in Upper Silesia , but joined the navy in October 1933 after clashes with the National Socialists . He became Korvettenkapitän (engineer) and was most recently chief engineer on the light cruiser Cologne . After the war, he moved to the Ruhr area and became chairman of the specialist committee for route expansion in the mine expansion association. He gained historical importance as a driving force behind the reconstitution of the Association of Old Corps Students . He founded the "Akademiker-Hilfswerk Rhein-Ruhr", which became the "Ruhr Working Group" after the Federal Republic of Germany was founded. In 1950, Schaefer-Rolffs convened the VAC's first parliamentary assembly in Altena , at which 59 AHSC and over one hundred AH associations declared the dissolution of the association from 1938 null and void and reconstituted the VAC. He was also instrumental in founding the Andernach working group . The Halle successor corps Saxonia Frankfurt am Main (since 1984 in Konstanz) awarded him the ribbon for his services to the re-establishment of the VAC; the Association of Old Corps Students honored him in 1966 with the VAC silver bowl . In 1974 he became a corps bow bearer of Neoborussia Berlin zu Bochum ; In 1978 he received her ribbon.
