Gerd Seidel

Gerd Seidel (born January 27, 1943 ) is a German law scholar and university professor .

life and work

Seidel studied law and passed his first state examination in law in 1968. In 1971 he was supported by the Humboldt University of Berlin with the font definition of military aggression Dr. iur. PhD. In 1980 he completed his habilitation and from 1983 was Professor of International Law at the Humboldt University in Berlin. From 1991 he held the full professorship for public law, international law and European law at the HU Berlin. In 2008 he retired.

Seidel researched in particular on constitutional law and international law, also with reference to immigration law. His main work is the handbook of fundamental and human rights at the state, European and universal level , in which he describes the protection of human rights at the national, European and international level on the basis of the Basic Law , the ECHR , the UN civil pact and the relevant case law of the Federal Constitutional Court compares.
