The Gereonskirche (Polish Kościół św. Gereona ) was a pre-Romanesque church on the Kraków Wawel .
history
The church was built around 1000 and was one of the numerous sacred buildings on the Wawel. It was consecrated to Gereon of Cologne . However, it was rebuilt into the Gothic style chapel of Mary of Egypt in the 14th century and demolished in the 16th century. In 1914, the foundations of the church were uncovered and examined by Adolf Szyszko-Bohusz .
