Gerhard Höver

Gerhard Höver (* 1949 in Troisdorf ) is a German Roman Catholic moral theologian .

Life

He studied Catholic theology, Latin and social sciences in Bonn . After completing his doctorate in Catholic theology in 1980, he was appointed research assistant at the moral theological seminar at the University of Bonn . After completing his habilitation in 1986, he was appointed private lecturer . In 1988 he was appointed professor for practical theology with a focus on moral theology and social ethics at Saarland University . In 1989 he was appointed Professor of Moral Theology at the University of Bonn, where he was Dean of the Catholic Theological Faculty (1998 - 2000/2009 - 2011) and Vice Dean (2000 - 2004). He retired in 2014.

His research and interests are the theory of action and ethics, natural rights ethics, human dignity / human rights: theological-ethical justification questions of freedom and action categories in ethics, ethics of interpersonal relationships, ethics of life: bioethics and image of man, beginning of life, personality and human dignity, ethical questions of prenatal diagnostics , Protection of life in pregnancy conflicts, dignified dying, ethics, impact and quality in hospice work, spiritual care, moral agency in pain medicine and theology of the family.
