Gerhard Hamann

Gerhard Hamann (born January 27, 1935 ; † September 11, 2000 ) was a German cellist and professor for violoncello at the Trossingen University of Music . He was principal cellist in the Lower Saxony Symphony Orchestra in Hanover.

His father was the violinist and concertmaster Bernhard Hamann (1909–1968), who founded the Hamann Quartet . Gerhard Hamann is the only brother of the actress Evelyn Hamann (1942–2007) and father of the violinist Sebastian Hamann (* 1968).
