Gerhard Kurz

Gerhard Kurz (* 1943 in Heiligenmoschel ) is a German literary scholar .

Life

He studied German, philosophy and history in Heidelberg (1969/1970 state examination ). After receiving his doctorate in 1973 at the University of Düsseldorf and his habilitation in 1979/1980, he taught from 1980 to 1984 as a professor for German language and literature at the University of Amsterdam . From 1984 to 2008 he was professor for recent German literary history and general literary studies at the University of Giessen . From 1990 to 1998 he was President of the Hölderlin Society. Since 2001 he has been the deputy chairman of the administrative committee of the Free German Hochstift .
