Germán L. Rennow Hay

Germán L. Rennow Hay (* 1905 ; † 1980 ) was a Mexican ambassador .

Life

Germán L. Rennow Hay was the son of Josefina Hay Fortuño (1875-1946) and Carlos Rennow Phillips (1876-1935). From March 1, 1934 to May 21, 1935, Hay was chargé d'affaires in La Paz. In 1936, he was military attaché in Berlin . From October 24, 1939 to June 28, 1940 he was chargé d'affaires with the Danish, Dutch, Belgian and Norwegian governments. From May 10, 1940, the Wehrmacht occupied the Netherlands as part of the western campaign . From January 14, 1941 he was the second class secretary of the embassy in Berlin and was called to consultations with the ambassador in Berlin Juan F. Azcárate Pinora to Mexico, whereupon on August 1, 1941 he was the embassies to the governments of Denmark, the Netherlands, Belgium and Norway closed without affecting relations. When the Mexican ambassador to the Dominican Republic, José María Gurría Martínez de Escobar, died on December 24, 1943 , Hay became chargé d'affaires in Santo Domingo . During his service, on July 4, 1945, he granted asylum to an opponent of Rafael Leónidas Trujillo Molina .

From February 1, 1950 to September 12, 1953 he was Chargé d'affaires in Moscow , from February 24, 1954 to April 5, 1956 in Tokyo , from December 18, 1958 to October 6, 1959 in Oslo and from December 12, 1961 to 10. November 1962 was on a diplomatic mission in Copenhagen .
