from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

German Canadians was the name of a professional ice hockey team made up of Canadians , which was put together in Krefeld in 1936 and existed until 1938. The team, which was put together by the then Canadian trainer Bobby Hoffinger and the Krefeld businessman Willi Münstermann , formed the cornerstone for the success of ice hockey in Krefeld and especially for that of the Krefeld EV .

German Canadians players were Percy Downtown , Everett Langford , Lorne Gray , Pete Prediger , Benny Klotz , Jack Ring , Henry Schulz , Frank Schwinghammer , Schnarr.

Thanks to the Canadian professional players bought in, the Krefeld team managed to achieve impressive results (0: 0 and 2: 1) in the first games against the German record champions from the Berlin ice skating club and thus a broad interest in ice hockey in the region around Krefeld to create.

In order to secure funding for the team on the one hand and to raise funds for ice hockey in Krefeld on the other hand, the team also played several friendlies in Europe in the 1936/37 and 1937/38 seasons.
