Frank Schwinghammer (born December 30, 1914 ; †?) Was a German - Canadian ice hockey player and coach who was active during his career for the KEV and EV Westfalen Dortmund , among others . He was also a member of the German Canadiens .

Player career

Schwinghammer was since 1936, together with eight other Canadian ice hockey players, a member of the German Canadiens, a professional ice hockey team from Krefeld that existed between 1936 and 1938 . The Canadiens are considered to be the cornerstone for the success of ice hockey in Krefeld. In the seasons 1937/38 and 1938/39 he was also under contract with his teammate Jack Ring at EV Westfalen Dortmund. There he played a total of four games and scored two goals. With the Dortmunders he entered the North-West European Cup, where he met with the club on clubs such as the RSC Essen , the Düsseldorfer EG or the Cologne EK .

At the end of 1938 he took over responsibility for the amateur team of the Krefelder EV as a player-coach. In 1941 he had to resign and leave Germany because of the Second World War . He later returned to take care of the KEV's youth work. In 1947 he won the Interzone Championship with the Krefeld team. A season later, in 1948, he returned to Canada, ending his career as a defender and coach in Germany.
