Gerrit Horstmeier

Gerrit Horstmeier (* 1958 in Witten ) is a German lawyer. He is a professor at the Faculty of Economics at Furtwangen University .

Professional background

After his second state examination and admission to the bar, he was head of the legal department at Krombacher Brauerei GmbH & Co. KG, then Manager Legal & Personnel at SEIKO Germany GmbH. Further professional positions as head of the central legal / human resources department at Saarbergwerke AG, managing director of Saarberg Hölter Umwelttechnik GmbH and TOTAL Mineralölvertrieb GmbH followed.

Teaching and Research

Gerrit Horstmeier has been teaching at the HFU Business School a. a. International business law, labor law, business ethics, conflict management and general management topics.

He worked on the development of the Faculty of Economics. a. as vice dean and dean. Horstmeier has been the HFU ethics officer since 2006. In 2007 he founded the “Studium Generale” on the Schwenningen campus. He is also the C-Trainer of the Baden-Württemberg Canoe Association and head of the HFU kayak group.

In 2016, Gerrit Horstmeier launched the HFU Summer School with the event “White Water Management - Learning management in a new way” (see www.hfu-summerschool.com).

He maintains contact with practice as a business mediator and as a recognized arbitration board of the Constance Regional Court. Gerrit Horstmeier researches and publishes in the field of labor and commercial law, in the field of mediation and conflict management as well as general management. He developed the method of "White Water Management - Learning management in a new way" as an action-oriented approach to management training. Management principles such as responsibility for target achievement, risk assessment, decision-making and team management in the field of whitewater are tested and individually reflected on. Using this concept, even beginners in white water kayaking can be guided to the core tasks of management.
