Gerry Breen

Gerry Breen (* in Clontarf ) is an Irish politician and was Lord Mayor of Dublin from June 2010 to June 2011 .

Breen grew up in the Dublin suburb of Clontarf. He attended the Belgrove National School and the Coláiste Mhuire . He then studied at University College Dublin , where he received a Bachelor of Commerce in 1979 .

Breen has been with Fine Gael since 1981 . In 1999 he was first elected to the Dublin City Council . He was re-elected in 2004 and 2009. June 2010 he was elected the new Lord Mayor of Dublin ( Lord Mayor of Dublin ), replacing Emer Costello . Prior to his election as Lord Mayor, he had been the leader of the Fine Gael faction on Dublin City Council since 2004.

Breen is married and has three daughters.
