Gert Nagel

Gert K. Nagel (born January 1936 ) is a German antiques dealer and auctioneer .

Career

Nagel was born the son of the Mannheim art dealer Fritz Nagel (1897–1981). He studied at the State Academy of Fine Arts in Stuttgart and trained as a restorer. In 1965 he took over the art auction house , which had been relocated to Stuttgart in 1949, from his father and ran it until the death of his only child in 1990. He developed an extensive collector's activity. On the occasion of his 50th birthday, he gave the city of Ellwangen his collection of Schrezheim faience . In 2003 he opened the Gert Nagel collector's museum in Kornwestheim .

He is the author of numerous art history books, including the Swabian Artist Lexicon . As a sworn art expert, he appeared on the television program Kunst und Krempel .

On the occasion of his 60th birthday, Gert Nagel founded the Dixieland Jubilee concert series with traditional swinging jazz. The proceeds will go to charitable organizations. The concerts with a capacity of over 90% can be experienced regularly in January in Ludwigsburg.
