Gertruda Konatkowska

Gertruda Konatkowska (born June 23, 1895 in Berlin , † October 29, 1966 in Poznan ) was a Polish pianist and co-founder and professor at the Ignacy Jan Paderewski Music Academy in Poznan .

Life

Konatkowska was born into a Polish family and grew up in Berlin. She first studied in the years 1910-1913 at the Berlin Klindworth-Scharwenka Conservatory with Moritz Mayer-Mahr . 1914–1917 she continued her studies at the Royal Academy of Music with Richard Rössler . From 1917 she appeared as a soloist and chamber musician. In 1920 she moved to Poznan and began teaching at the newly established State Music Academy. From 1934 she appeared frequently on Polish radio.

In 1958 she became a professor, from 1961 until her retirement (1966) she took over the chair of piano at the Ignacy Jan Paderewski Music Academy in Poznan. In 1964 she performed publicly as a pianist and in 1965 she recorded several piano works. Her students included the choir conductor Stefan Stuligrosz and music critic Jerzy Waldorff .
