Odorless, movable outlet (French = fosses inodores et mobiles ) is the name of a toilet , the technical construction of which served to minimize odors and facilitate the disposal of human faeces . It was invented and set up in France in the first decades of the 19th century .

history

A panel of experts appointed by the Société royale et centrale d'agriculture recommended at the meeting of the society on August 18, 1818, the establishment of such toilets presented and produced by "Gazeneuve et Companie, Paris" after a development phase lasting several years.

The architect Leo von Klenze went to the French capital to study this development on site so that he could still integrate it into the Palais Leuchtenberg in Munich, which is currently under construction . In the following years, this technical achievement was integrated into the Alte Pinakothek , the building of the agricultural association, the royal war ministry, the new barracks and other new houses and the city buildings.

advantages

(Listed after Joseph von Hazzi)

  1. Avoidance of odors and otherwise unavoidable drafts
  2. Preservation and protection of walls and foundations from moisture and nitric corrosion , reduction in building repairs
  3. Prevention of the poisoning of the "well water, through the unavoidable penetration of the rotten materials from the previous cuttings"
  4. Removal of all vermin, such as rats, mice and toads, by removing the attractive nutrients
  5. Gaining space in the building, as the rooms close to the closets can also be better used
  6. Prevention of neighborhood disputes
  7. Gaining readily available fertilizer (recommendation for garden owners to fill a pit lined with clay as an insulation layer with the contents of the drain and then cover it with lime and earth)
