The Gesamtverband Deutscher Holzhandel (GD Holz) is a German industry association . It represents the economic interests of the timber trade and its distribution channel towards business, politics, the media and other institutions. It has also set itself the goal of improving the sales interests of the member companies in their distribution channels.
The association also has a database that provides interested parties and buyers with the locations of timber dealers. The consumer portal “Holz vom Fach” also provides design tips for the garden, home and handicrafts as well as specific information on types of wood, their properties and their intended use.
Association
The association has around 900 member companies in Germany. The Luxembourg trading group is affiliated with the association and it is a member of the German Timber Industry Council (DHWR), the Federal Association of Wholesale and Foreign Trade (BGA) and the European Timber Trade Federation (ETTF). The secretariat of the European timber trade association will be looked after by GD Holz from 2019 in Berlin.
The association is both a professional association and a central association . As a professional association, it safeguards the interests of its member companies in the specialist areas of wood wholesaling, wood exporting, wood retailing, raw wood trading and veneer trading. Further committees and working groups are assigned to these departments. As a central association, the association represents the interests of the distribution channel towards politics and associations. He represents the interests of timber imports in Brussels and Berlin within the framework of the European Timber Trade Regulation and the Timber Trade Safety Act. GD Holz Service GmbH is an accredited monitoring organization (within the meaning of the Timber Trade Ordinance), whose main tasks are the creation of a so-called "due diligence system" and the review of its application by the participating companies.
The association is based in Berlin . The most important events of GD Holz are the annual members' meeting, the "German Timber Trade Day" and the Wood Industry Day, which takes place every two years as a trade fair in Cologne.
