Commercial extension of the Confitería La Americana

The commercial extension of the Confitería La Americana (Almacén anexo a la Confitería La Americana) is a building in the Uruguayan capital of Montevideo .

The building, constructed in 1944, is located in Barrio Centro on Calle Carlos Quijano 1327 between Avenida 18 de Julio and San José . Julio Vilamajó (1894–1948) was responsible as the architect . The building, originally conceived as a commercial building, now houses a branch of the police headquarters (Jefatura de la Policía).

Since 1986 the building has been classified as the Monumento Histórico Nacional . Since 1995 it has also been classified as a Bien de Interés Municipal .
