Paroli of a gun foreman

In the Austro-Hungarian Army , the gun foreman was a military rank in the group of NCOs .

The gun foreman belonged to the artillery and corresponded to the rank of corporal ( Hungarian Tizedes ) in the infantry and the other branches of arms (but not in the hunters and riflemen - here the corresponding rank was Unterjäger ). As the staff of the independent machine gun - departments also belonged to the artillery, the corporals were referred to as gun-Vormeister. As a badge of rank ( badge of distinction ) they each wore two white stars made of celluloid on a colored base ( Paroli ) that complied with the equalization regulations . The foreman’s badge was the foreman’s cord, a red-dyed sheep’s wool cord with a total of seven red balls of wool.
