The protected landscape component of the water castle Werdringen with an area of ​​3.7  hectares is located around the water castle Werdringen in the area of ​​the independent city of Hagen in North Rhine-Westphalia . The LB was designated in 1994 with the landscape plan of the city of Hagen by the city council of Hagen.

Description in the landscape plan: "The protected landscape component west of the Kaisberg includes a park-like facility with partially overgrown woody areas, fallow areas, ponds, streams and orchards."

Protection purpose

According to the landscape plan, the designation was made “to ensure the efficiency of the natural balance by preserving the species and structure-rich woody stock with valuable old wood, especially as a habitat for small mammals, dead wood-dwelling insects and cave-nesting birds as well as the various types of wetlands as a habitat for numerous threatened animal and plant species”.
