Stories from the fabulous forest

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Tales from the Fabelwald is a series of children's books by Tony Wolf (pseudonym for Antonio Lupatelli , born 1930 in Busseto / Italy), which he wrote and illustrated in 1983. The books were first published by Mondo Verlag , later also by Isis Verlag and Eco Verlag .

action

With each volume new characters are added, so that it is a matter of dealing with the new characters. This is also evident in the individual titles of the volumes, which are consequently getting longer and longer. In the first part, the animals leave their home and in the second volume they enter the fabulous forest, where they meet the dwarfs with whom they become friends. In the third part, the giant Rotbart comes to the village of the dwarves and at the end of the tape brings them to the forest of the great fairy. At the beginning of the fourth part, this sends six fairies to the dwarf village, where they should spend their vacation. While there, some of the fairies are lost or even lost their lives. In the fifth part, the dwarfs meet three goblins , and in the sixth part the reader learns that in a valley behind the fabulous forest there are dinosaur-like dragons who previously knew nothing of the existence of the forest.

main characters

  • Crocus: The wizard dwarf is both the wizard and the chief of the dwarfs. He is the custodian of the "Great Book", whose writing and magic spells only he understands. It is also equipped with a magic ball.
  • Rotbart: Rotbart is a giant who travels and settles in the village of the dwarves. With the help of a magic ring, Krokus can shrink it so that he can often work with them in dwarf size. With the red beard and the blue and white striped trousers, Rotbart is reminiscent of Obelix .
  • The Great Fairy: She is the ruler of the fairy kingdom and very mysterious because you never see her. In order to get in touch with the dwarfs, she sends her six fairies iris, onyx, nettle, tulip, orchid and apricot to the village.
  • Vinegar, pepper and cumin: These three goblins live in a tree house and are often in the mood for pranks. However, they never mean it badly.
  • The Guzznags: They are small, malicious creatures that shoot arrows from opium poppies with blowguns . They cannot speak properly, they just make "Bzzz" sounds. It's not sure what they are, but Vinegar says they are goblins too.
  • Dragon King: The Dragon King has nothing against the dwarves, but when he is accused of attacking the village, he declares war on the village of the dwarves. But later he befriends Krokus.
  • Franz, the black dwarf: He only appears in the last volume; but there one learns that he was banished from the village of the dwarves by Krokus. In order to get revenge, he captures one of the dragons and forces it to attack the village with fire. In the end he falls into a ravine. He survives, but loses his memory in the process.

Structure of the books

At the beginning of each book, on the third page, a parchment is shown on which the main actor of the newly arrived people introduces himself. There are pictures on every page, sometimes a picture even takes up an entire page. The chapter to which the picture relates tells what is going on and why you should look at the picture carefully. In some places a comic-style conversation is being conducted; so that, for example, only the comments are shown without naming the speakers; which should also lead to a close look at the pictures.
