Geschwister-Scholl-Foundation

The Geschwister-Scholl-Stiftung was founded in 1950 by Inge Scholl in memory of her siblings Sophie and Hans Scholl , who were executed by the National Socialists in 1943 as members of the White Rose resistance group .

history

From 1949, Inge Scholl, Otl Aicher and Hans Werner Richter planned an independent, political and humanities-oriented school in Ulm . The Geschwister-Scholl-Foundation was founded on December 4th, 1950. Their aim was to found and maintain a private college for design in Ulm. From 1953 to 1968 the foundation supported the Ulm School of Design (HfG). After the HfG Ulm ceased operations at the end of 1968, the foundation also ceased its activities. In 1987 it changed its name to the Stiftung Hochschule für Gestaltung and has been the sponsor of the IFG Ulm ( International Forum for Design ) ever since .
