The Association for Nutritional Therapy and Prevention (FET) eV is an association based in Aachen . On November 16, 1999, the Society for Nutritional Medicine and Dietetics was founded. In addition to nutritionists , nutritionists and dietitians , its members also include several industrial companies.
In 2006, the company presented the diaita award for the first time . In addition, the company published the IVW- certified journal diaita - magazine for dietetics .
The association came under fire because it was allegedly advertising. Due to the criticism of the media, the wishes of the members and a changed management structure of the association, there were fundamental innovations, especially with regard to the objectives of the association. With the renaming to the Association for Nutritional Therapy and Prevention eV, the statutes of the association were fundamentally revised. A new mission statement was established. Today, in addition to a healthy diet, sustainability, ecological and social aspects are the main focus of the association's attention.
The goals of the association are to provide patients and consumers with independent information, to critically question current research results and current dietary recommendations, to offer and support a critical approach to media and advertising as well as industrial interests, the promotion of consumer education as well as further and advanced training measures for nutritionists.
The nutritional recommendations of the association go towards natural - that is, if possible, unprocessed - and regional foods and a higher quality, fat and protein-rich diet. The association emphasizes that it is particularly valuable to create an increased awareness of food and to help consumers and mediators to use food more safely.
