The law on day care facilities for children (GTK) of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia contained provisions on child day care .
The original version of December 21, 1971, under the title Kindergarten Act (KgG), served to implement the law for youth welfare at state level . The new version with the title Law on Daycare for Children (GTK) of October 29, 1991 came into force on January 1, 1992. The law on the reorganization of child and youth welfare law provided the framework for this .
The GTK was supplemented by a special operating costs regulation and a GTK procedural regulation.
With effect from August 1, 2008, the GTK was replaced by the Child Education Act.
