The Law no. 2622 on the non-admissibility of the adoption of the name "Atatürk" of 17 December 1934, a Turkish law for the protection of the name "Atatürk", which with the law no. 2587 of 24 November 1934 the President Kemal was awarded .

According to Art. 1, 2 of Law No. 2622, the name "Ataturk", as well as names containing it, may not be adopted, used or given as a first or last name . With Art. 3, the beginning of the temporal scope of application was set on November 24, 1934, i.e. on the day the name was assigned by the Grand National Assembly ( real retroactive effect ). Finally, Art. 4 states that the Minister of the Interior is responsible for the implementation of the law.

Known cases

According to reports from the daily Zaman , a man from Adana born in 1956 had to change his name at the age of 36, according to the newspaper Hürriyet at the age of 30, at the request of the Adana Prosecutor to Ata . This became aware of the man who, among other things, had done his military service with the name Ataturk Gülbahar, when he was supposed to appear in court as a witness.
